Here We Are!

So here we are, two weeks today since we moved in and what a whirlwind it has been!  Most of the boxes are unpacked, but I still haven't found my camera or the charger to Miss M's camera, so pictures might be light at the start!  I'm itching to get out and take some photos though because it is spectacularly beautiful out here!  I can't believe we are actually 10 minutes closer to town than we used to be because it feels like we live a world away from everything!  Other than the lack of internet access at the moment, I have everything I have ever dreamed of (well, except for that pony we all wanted as little girls, but who knows down the track....)!  Thankfully everything fits in the house since it is quite a downsize on the old one, but there is still plenty of room about the place.  And the views...oh the views!  It doesn't matter which window in the house you look out of, it is just gorgeous!  I can't believe I now live in the sort of place I used to go for a holiday!  The back of the house looks out over the 20 acre paddock which is surrounded on 2 sides by Middle Creek, a gorgeous little bubbling brook.  The crystal clear water flows gently over the sandy bottom so it is a perfect place for young kids to frolic come summertime.  We bought some shrimp traps the other day, so I am dying to pop them in, although I'm not sure it's the right time of year just yet.  The banks of the river are densely lined with beautiful native vegetation.  Gum trees of all varieties abound everywhere.  Speaking of bounding, the resident mob of kangaroos can be seen down the bottom of the paddock each morning through the mist and they keep a close eye on us up at the bus stop along with the local Clydesdales.
Looking out the front windows of the house through the big shady verandah, you can see past a small clearing to the 50 acres of untouched virgin bushland.  It's wild and woolly up there!  I haven't had a chance to go exploring too far, but I have already found quite a few rocky outcrops and overhangs which will make gorgeous picnic spots on our lovely sunny days.
On a still morning before the gentle breeze picks up, you can hear the water of the creek running its way down to meet the Orara River on the far North Eastern boundary of the property, and when the wind does pick up, you can hear it rustling through the tree tops.  No cars, no trains, just breezes, streams and a plethora of bird calls.  Absolute magic!
